Vision Statement:
The purpose of Grace and Truth Christian Fellowship is to glorify God by equipping the saints for the work of the ministry by proclaiming Biblically-balanced teaching of God’s unerring Word, loving and caring for those in need, maintaining discipleship and accountability among the people, modeling and encouraging Christ-centered homes, and working diligently at evangelizing the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
God
We believe in the one true God, existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal from all eternity, each with distinct personalities, but of one essence.
Trinity
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, executing distinct but harmonious offices.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternally existent Son of God and Second Person of the Holy Trinity. We believe that He entered into the world through the virgin birth, and lived among mankind without sin as perfect Man and perfect God. We believe that He perfectly fulfilled the law of God, suffered and died upon the cross for the salvation of sinners, offering mankind complete forgiveness of sin and separation from God by faith. We believe that He was buried, rose again on the third day, and ascended to His Father, at whose right hand He lives forever to make intercession for His people, remaining as the sole Mediator between God and man.
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the eternally existent third person of the Trinity. We believe that the Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Jesus Christ, and bears witness to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that He convicts and draws sinners to Christ for forgiveness of sin, imparts new spiritual life to them, guides believers into understanding the truth of the Word, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth, and seals them until the day of redemption.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God. We believe the Bible is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. We believe it is the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of man and the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life. We believe it was fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and thus in its original manuscripts, it is inspired, infallible, and inerrant.
Creation
We believe that the literal six day Creation as described in the Book of Genesis is an accurate description of God’s power and sovereignty over time and space. We believe God created, out of nothing, the universe as we know it today in six twenty-four hour days. Mankind, and all life on earth, did not evolve but was created by a direct act of God.
Man
We believe mankind was created by God without sin in His own image, and did not evolve from preexisting forms of life. We believe that mankind was created male and female to glorify God and have eternal fellowship with Him.
Fall of Man
We believe that man fell from his sinless state through the temptation of Satan by disobeying the command of God. We believe that the entire human race then fell from this state of fellowship with God and took on a sin nature that is corrupt and wholly opposed to God and His law. We believe that this sin nature condemns all mankind to eternal separation from God, standing alone against the temptations of Satan, and unable to return to a righteous state with God by good works.
Salvation
We believe the salvation of man is wholly a work of God’s free grace and not the work, in whole or in part of human effort or goodness. We believe God imputes His righteousness, forgiveness, and eternal life to those who put their faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for their sins. We believe it is the privilege of all who are born again of the Spirit to be assured of their salvation from the very moment they trust Jesus Christ as their Savior. This assurance is not based upon any kind of human merit, but is produced by the witness of the Holy Spirit, who confirms in the believer the testimony of God in His written word.
Good Works
We believe that the true salvation is always followed by repentance and a determination to follow Jesus in a life of obedience and good works. We believe that these works of obedience are out of love for God, and not steps taken to earn or keep salvation. We believe the strength to perform consistent good works for God comes only from the strength received from the Holy Spirit, and that the quantity of sin is able to be reduced greatly, but the Bible teaches that no man is able to become sinless until Jesus Christ returns to claim his church.
The Church
There is one universal church of which Christ is the Head, made up of true believers in all places and in all times. The visible local church is the ordinary means of the spread of God’s kingdom and the building up of God’s people in Christ. The primary means by which God extends His grace are the Word, the sacraments, and prayer. The marks of a true church are the proclamation of the whole revelation of God in Scripture, the Biblical administration of the sacraments, the exercise of Biblical government and discipline, and edifying use of the spiritual gifts given to the members of the body, and a manifestation of unity and love among the members.
The Sacraments
Christ has ordained two sacraments for the Church in the present age: water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. They are not means of salvation. They are signs and seals of the covenant of grace and are properly given to every member of the visible Church.
Last Things
Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly at the end of the age. The righteous and the unrighteous will be resurrected to face final judgment. The righteous will enjoy eternal blessedness in heaven, and the unrighteous will suffer eternal punishment in hell.
